Artist's Bio




Sarah Stearns was born in May of 1977 in Lebanon New Hampshire and started her studies in Architecture and Sociology at the University of New Hampshire some years later. Architecture brought her to her first course in oil painting at the age of twenty-one. After her second painting course at the age of twenty-three her passion for art blossomed and she self-taught to hone her skills. Sarah Stearns graduated with her master’s degree in social work at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2003, which she arrived at through her interest in Art therapy.

Sarah began selling her artwork in May of 2005. She has shown and sold her work at the 17th Street Farmer’s Market in downtown Richmond Virginia. Sarah Stearns has also shown her artwork at the Crossroads Art Gallery, Art Works Gallery, Hyperlink Café, Torman Essential energy Products, and Metro Space Gallery. Sarah has just recently moved to Austin Texas and will be exploring the art scene there.

Sarah’s style is her own, bringing out the colors in this world all around us. Sarah finds her inspiration from other cultures and lands. She has painted scenes from places she has traveled such as Australia, Venice Italy, and Costa Rica to name a few.
